David Wayne Blacksher

David Wayne Blacksher

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Our beloved David Wayne Blacksher went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 23, 2010 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, Washington.     He was born on June 28, 1960 in Mount Vernon, Washington the son of Ray and Rita (Hansen) Blacksher.

David grew up in Big Lake and attended school in Big Lake and Sedro-Woolley.

David had a smile that could light up a city and this magnificent huge loving spirit.

He was so much fun to be around and he made life long friendships wherever he went.

He was a fantastic cook and loved cooking for his friends.  David was a brilliant artist and he shared his art with everyone.  He loved the great outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing.  David would plant a garden every year and he planted gardens for his family members and friends.  He had a huge green thumb and he was so generous to others.

David also enjoyed getting together with his friends to play his guitar and harmonicas.  He would at times share this with family members and we loved every minute of it.

David was the kind of brother that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.  We miss you and love you so much David.  You were so unique, so not of this world.  God decided he needed another angel and we all wish he could have waited.  You were a diamond in the rough.

David is survived by his mother, Rita Blacksher of Sedro-Woolley.  His brothers, John Blacksher and his wife Amelia of Medford, OR, Leonard Blacksher of Sedro-Woolley and Larry Blacksher and his wife Angie of Lyman.   His sisters, Gloria Sandcrant and her husband Mike of Concrete, Carol Cates, Rose Hayes and her husband Raymond, Lily Blackburn and her husband Chris, Sheri Cochran and her husband Lanny and Mary Lou Jones and her husband Doug all of Sedro-Woolley.  Also numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Ray in February of 2009.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 2:00PM at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Pastor Jonathan DiMusto of CitiPoint Church of Mount Vernon officiating.  Following the services a Celebration of Life potluck and barbeque gathering will be held at Riverfront Park in Sedro-Woolley.  Visitation will be available from Wednesday thru Friday from 9am to 5pm and on Saturday from 9am to 1pm at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.  Donations for David’s funeral expenses would be greatly appreciated.

    Dear Rita and Blacksher Family
We are so sorry for the loss of a life that was so loved by many. Dave aka:
    Hound Dog.
Our deepest sympathy, may we all fine peace and comfort in the memories of Dave in the days ahead.
I first met Dave in Junior High at Cascade. At first I wasn’t very nice to Dave and teased him a lot, but Dave wasn’t a person that held a grudge, he accepted my apology and we have been friends every since.
A couple of things I remember is when we were younger and we would get home late. The first thing Dave would do is check your fridge to see if there was something to eat. he liked to eat!
We would make huge Dagwood sandwiches out of everything in the fridge. GOOD EATS!
Through the years and BBQ’S we would compliment each other on our cooking and the recipes we would make up.
Dave was always interest in how the kids were doing growing up. He had made Crystal a glass bead necklace when she was very young and she still cherishes it today at 24 years of age.
We are thankful to have known Dave he had a character and uniqueness about him which made him one of a kind. We will always remember him fondly as a friend.
    Love always,
Howard, Kathi, Crystal and Levi Phillips

I know you are in a better place and you are up there with grandpa having a good time playing your harmonica’s and looking down upon us. Alexis says she loves you and she misses you.. David was a dear friend and very loved by us and everyone who had the opportunity to know him. His music and love of cooking made us fast friends. Even though I loved to tease him-and he loved teasing back- the love was and always will be there. We will always remember ‘HoundDog’ as the life of the party and the soul of the experiences we shared. Take Care Friend!
