DELINA M. ‘CHAT’ BERGQUIST, 79, a former Sedro-Woolley resident passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2003 at the Life Care Center of Mount Vernon.
She was born on January 1, 1924 in Amesbury, Massachusetts the daughter of Joesph and Susan McGuinness Chatigny and was raised and attended school in Exeter, New Hampshire.
In 1945 Delina enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in California. She was united in marriage to Gerald Edwards in California and in 1946 they moved to Seattle. In 1955 they moved to Burlington. Delina went to work at Northern State Hospital in Sedro-Woolley in 1957 where she was employed as a nurse and where she received her LPN license. She worked there until its closure. She also worked at the Skagit Valley Convalescent Center in Sedro-Woolley and at the Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood.
In 1962 she married Floyd Bergquist and they made their home in Sedro-Woolley. For the past year Delina has made her home at The Bridge in Mount Vernon where she was very happy and content. Delina enjoyed her friends and family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley.
She is survived by her son, George Edwards and his wife Phyllis of Sedro-Woolley; her daughter, Grace Roeder of Mount Vernon. 3 grandchildren, Andy Edwards and his wife Alisia, Courtney Wegner and her husband Ray and Russell Roeder and his companion Christie Davis. 3 great-grandchildren; Amanda and Aiden Edwards and Kira Roeder; 3 sisters, 2 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. 2 husbands, 1 sister and 2 brothers.
The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of your choice.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2003 at 2:00PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Rosalie Robles of the Federation of Christian Ministries officiating.
