Donald D. Weaver, 75, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, September 10, 2009.
Don was born on July 5, 1934 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Flores & Eunice Small Weaver.
In 1941 the Weaver family moved to Bellingham where Don was raised and attended school. In 1953 Don enlisted into the U.S. Air Force, serving his country during the Korean Conflict with the 55th S.R. Wing.
On November 18, 1955 Don was united in marriage to Marilyn Cyr in Topeka, Kansas and after his discharge from the service in 1957 they moved to Burlington.
Don worked briefly in the flooring industry until beginning a career in refinery maintenance as a welder, pipefitter and maintenance technician, working for PM Northwest and others at the oil refineries around the state.
He has been a longtime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Don enjoyed studying genealogy and family history, gathering Air Force memorabilia, traveling, working on classic old cars and watching classic movies.
Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marilyn, at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. His two sons and their wives, Rick & Rose Weaver of Concrete and Brent & Donna Weaver of Burlington. Two grandchildren, Rachel Armey and her husband Eric and Jeff Weaver and a great-grandson, Bannon Armey. His brother, Ron Weaver and his wife, Terri of Sedro-Woolley. 4 step-grandchildren, Beau Brown and his wife, Carol Ann and their daughter, Emma, Jared Brown and Kellen & Kayla Russell and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Flores & Eunice.
Memorials may be made to the North Puget Cancer Care, 2000 Hospital Dr., Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284 or to Skagit Hospice, PO Box 1376, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memorial Cemetery in Burlington. A fellowship luncheon will follow the graveside service at the LDS Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
