DONNA MAE BOWLES GORSAGE, 68, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at her home on Friday May 30, 2003 following a courageous 2 year battle with cancer.
Donna was born on September 26, 1934 in Sioux City, Iowa, one of five daughters of Earl & Ida Pierce Bowles.
While Donna was still a young girl the family moved to Bridgeport, WA, where she was raised, but she attended school in Brewster where she graduated from high school.
She was united in marriage to James Gorsage on July 3, 1953 in Brewster, WA and they made their home in Portland, Oregon. Donna helped her husband James operate his construction business while trying to also raise four wonderful daughters. Leisure time found Donna out golfing, bowling, camping, or traveling, or at home knitting, crocheting or tending to her many animals. After James’ death in 1998 Donna moved to Sedro-Woolley where she has since made her home.
She is survived by her 4 daughters, Cindy Everist of Portland, OR, Mindy Malsom of Gresham, OR, and Denise Martens and Tana Victor both of Sandy, OR. 6 grandchildren, Tracy, Nick, Michelle, Hilary, Ashley and Jamie. 4 sisters, Marie Whitley, Maxine Butts, Barbara Stanley and Mary Lou Lindell.
Her companion and soul mate, Lamar McElroy of Sedro-Woolley and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband James, she was also preceded in death by her parents.
A private family Life Celebration will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the North Puget Oncology Department at United General Hospital or the Humane Society of Skagit Valley.
