Dorothy Maxine Hinz, age 89, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the Life Care Center of Mount Vernon in Mount Vernon, Washington.

She was born on May 25, 1921 in Gothenburg, Nebraska to Lou and Villa Mae (Scheedler) Bowman.

Dorothy grew up and attended school in Gothenburg, NE.   She then worked as a waitress and in food service for school districts.

She was married to Robert L. Hinz on April 12, 1952 in Columbus, NE and they resided in Grand Island, NE until moving to North Bend, WA in 1954.  In 1955, she moved to Anacortes, WA residing there until 1977 when her husband was transferred to Baton Rouge, LA. In 1982, when her husband retired they moved to Sedro-Woolley, WA.

Dorothy enjoyed sewing, quilting, painting, playing cards and enjoyed her family and friends.  She was a member of North Cascade Seventh day Adventist Church in Burlington, WA.

She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Hinz of the family home in Sedro-Woolley, WA.  Her children, Sandra Kay Pirak and her husband Joe of Tulalip, WA, Terry Jones and his wife Jean of Brookfield, NH, Julia Bushree and her husband Jerry of Georgetown, TX, and Kristin Sivula and her husband Tommy of Long Beach, CA.  9 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.  Her sister, Joann Kozisek and her husband Bill of Storm Lake, IA and two brothers, Rodney Bowman and his wife Shorty of Omaha, NE and Calvin Bowman of Gothenburg, NE.  Also numerous nieces and nephews.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; a son, William David Jones; a sister, Juanita Kite and two brothers, Jim and Pete Bowman.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 6:00PM at North Cascade Seventh-day Adventist Church on Hwy 20 in Burlington, WA with Pastor Ira Bartolome officiating.  Interment and Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 1:00PM at the Gothenburg Cemetery in Gothenburg, NE under the direction of Blasé-Strauser Memorial Chapel.  Local arrangements are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley, WA.
