Doyle Gordon Bryan, age 86, passed away on January 17, 2012, at Whatcom Hospice House, Bellingham. Doyle was born October 16, 1925, in Lexington, Oklahoma, to Eugene and Ora (Evans) Bryan. He moved to the Yakima area where he met, and married Beverley Latham on June 4, 1949. He worked as an orchard foreman, and at U&I Sugar until moving to Sedro-Woolley in 1968. Doyle and Beverley were the first foster parents in the State of Washington, licensed in 1950, fostering over 300 children. Doyle served as the President of the Foster Parents Association, Northwest Region, for many years. He volunteered as a Royal Ranger Leader and Regional Commander, from 1968 to 2000. Many in the Sedro-Woolley area would recognize Doyle as he operated a landscaping business for many years with his sons.
Doyle is survived by his daughter, Sherron and husband Mike Streavey, of Colfax, WA; daughter, Janie Reed, of Bremerton, WA; son, Paul Bryan and companion, Joan, of Concrete; son, Denney and wife Sharon Bryan, of Puyallup; son, David and wife Julia Bryan, of Sedro-Woolley; daughter, Beverlee June Roberts, of Sedro-Woolley; daughter, Betty Jean Bryan, of Sedro-Woolley; brother, Jack Bryan, of the Philippines; sister, Marcia Gensburg, of Sedro-Woolley; sister, Mary Weeks, of Moxee, WA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Beverley, son-in-law, Larry Reed, granddaughter, Diane Comack, and brothers, Lou and Paul (Blackie.)
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Lemley Chapel, with Pastor Ed Leckenby presiding. Doyle will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery. A time of visitation will be available from 9-5 Thursday and Friday at Lemley Chapel.
