EDITH H. WATSON, 87, a longtime resident of Lyman, passed away on Monday December 9, 2002 at the Mira Vista Care Center in Mount Vernon.
Edith was born on March 4, 1915 in Jackson, County, North Carolina, the daughter of John & Bessie Watson Messer. She was raised and attended school in North Carolina and there was united in marriage to Elbert ‘Eb’ Watson on April 6, 1929. They made their home and raised their family there until coming to Lyman, WA in 1950. Edith was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and home maker. She enjoyed cooking, canning the food she grew in her garden, growing flowers to brighten her home and making quilts.
She is survived by her 5 children and their spouses, Irmie & Ben Bryson of Darrington, WA, Betty Jo Moen of Lyman, WA, Margie & Tom McCoy and Bobbie & Dick Gallagher of Sedro-Woolley, WA and John Watson of Kooskia, Idaho. 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Elbert in 1997. 2 brothers, Roscoe & Lewis Messer. 3 sisters, Gertrude Stewart, Lillie Woods and Annie Fay Roberts and a son-in-law, Jim Moen.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Lyman Cemetery Fund.
Funeral services will be held Thursday December 12, 2002 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Pastor Ron Schenk of the Lyman Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be at the Lyman City Cemetery, followed by a fellowship gathering at the Lyman Town Hall.
