EDWARD OTTO PRESSENTIN, 85, a lifelong Concrete community resident passed away on Sunday December 15, 2002 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham.
Ed was born on December 6, 1917 in Concrete, WA the son of Carl & Martha Ruby Pressentin. He was raised and attended school in Concrete, and as a young man began working in the woods that surrounded his home town. He worked as a logger for several years and then in 1955 began working in the road construction industry. He was involved in the construction of the Green River Watershed, Snoqualmie Pass and the North Cascades Hiway. He retired in 1984.
He was united in marriage to Venna Jensen in Mount Vernon, WA on September 11, 1937 and together they made their home in Concrete for 57 years until her death in 1994. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and working in his vegetable garden. Ed was a member of the Northwest Laborers Union, Local 901 and the International Order of Foresters.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Helen & Stan Parker of Concrete. His son and daughter-in-law, Darrel & Debra Pressentin of Mattawa, WA. A brother, Robert Pressentin and his wife Mary of Bellingham, WA. 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his wife Venna, he was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Julie Meeker in 1996, a daughter-in-law, Shirley Pressentin in 1997, 2 sisters, Mildred Crinklaw in 1995 and Clara Dods in 1999. Ed’s family wish to acknowledge and thank Mary Conklin for her loving care of their father. They suggests memorials be made to the Skagit Valley Kidney Center, PO Box 1136, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
Graveside services will be held Friday December 20, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete. Pastor Tom Ross of Mount Baker Presbyterian Church in Concrete officiating.
