Ellen Emma Anderson a lifetime resident of Skagit Valley passed away Sunday, May 5, 2002 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA at the age of 82 years. She was born May 16, 1919 in Burlington, WA the daughter of Fleet and Dovie Haynes Marlow. Ellen graduated from the Burlington High School in 1938 and she was married April 29, 1939 in Sedro-Woolley to Andrew ‘Andy ‘ Anderson. They moved to Forks, WA and resided there until returning to the farm on Prairie Rd in 1947. While raising her family she also worked at the local canneries which included Nalley’s, National, and Stokely Van Camp. Ellen was a member of the Sedro-Woolley Eagles Aerie # 2069 and past president of the Eagles Auxillary, Samish Valley Grange, and the Hickson Community Club as well as being a longtime 4-H leader and Barn Superintendent at the Skagit Valley Fair. She enjoyed gardening, canning, hunting, fishing, wildlife, bingo, but most of all she enjoyed her family. Ellen is survived by her children Jim ‘Andy’ Anderson and his wife Lyn of Sedro-Woolley, Larry Anderson and his wife Diane of Shelton, Mavis Betz and her husband Cecil of Mount Vernon, and Bob Anderson and his wife Robin of Tonasket. 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 2 sisters Nora Hatchett and Gertie Bever of Sedro-Woolley. She was preceded in death by her husband Andy in April of 1982, her parents, 3 brothers Fred, Dick, & Millard Marlow and 2 sisters Mattie Hayes and Bessie Allison.
Memorial Services will be Friday, May 10, 2002 at 3:30 PM at Lemley Chapel with Rosalie Robles of the Federation of Christian Ministries officiating. A Reception will follow the Services at the Eagles. Memorials are suggested to Hickson Community Club c/o 21347 Prairie Rd Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284.
