Ernest Dale Price

Friday, October 14th, 2011

Ernest Dale Price went to be with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 14, 2011 at SVH with his family by his side.

Dale was born on Sept 6, 1952 in Sedro Woolley, WA.

Dale’s love for his family was second only to his love for his Lord.

He is survived by his mother Arretta, his wife Connie, his sons Timothy (and wife Janine and grandchildren Noelle & Logan), Titus (and wife Shelley and grandchildren Quinten and soon to be born Julie), Toby (and wife Rachael and grandchildren Xavier, Emett, Linus & Maverick), his sisters Juanita (and son Johnathan) and Janice (and husband Jon Tedesco and children June -husband Ben & Jamie – wife Toma and daughter Tabitha), brother Curtis (and children Cozy, Marshall & Jo), and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dale grew up in Lyman, WA and attended school in Sedro Woolley. His childhood was spent in the outdoors hunting and fishing.

He had a strong work ethic and held jobs as early as 13 yrs of age. At the age of 16 he joined the Marines and served for 3 years. He was stationed at Barbers Point Naval Air Station in Oahu, Hawaii and it was while there that he received Jesus as his Saviour and met his wife, Connie. He also felt a strong calling to study and preach God’s Word and after his discharge, he and Connie married and moved to Springfield, Mo where he attended Baptist Bible College for 4 years.

God led him and his wife to return to WA after graduation and Dale pastored a small church in Mt. Vernon for 5 years. He had no greater joy than sharing the Gospel with everyone he could and spent many evenings and weekends knocking doors to tell people about Jesus. Although he stepped down from the position of pastor to devote more time to his family, he never stepped down from his stand for the Lord and his sharing of God’s Love.

Dale loved being outdoors and started his own business in 1981 which eventually grew into the purchase of his log truck and Price Brothers Log & Haul.

He was a friend to all he met and never hesitated to offer whatever he could to be a help or encouragement.

He was a strong and steady man, a wonderful, loving husband and father and loved his grandchildren more than words can describe. He enjoyed a tradition that his wife started several years ago of her giving gifts of poems that she would write. So, in honor of my husband I am writing the following poem:

Dale I will miss you,

You were the love of my life.

It was a blessing and honor to be 39 years your wife.

Although my heart is breaking and many tears will fall,

I know you’re with Jesus, He was your All in All.

The Joy that you carried came from deep in your heart,

Always sharing the Gospel, Jesus’ love to depart.

You loved me so deeply with a love beyond words,

I will cherish that memory when sorrow makes my heart churn.

Tim, Titus, and Toby filled your heart with such pride.

You loved the godly men they became and the faithful wives by their side.

Seven happy grandchildren running all over the place,

You loved each one so deeply, you could see it in your face.

They loved sitting with Papa as he read them their books.

their love so apparent in their adoring looks.

You always thought of others, even before your own needs,

Always helping and giving, sharing Jesus through your deeds.

Our minds think of memories that time can’t erase,

And remembering them will keep a smile on our face.

We love and miss you.

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

A time of visitation will be available on Monday, October 17, 2011 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Lemley Chapel, 1008 Third St., Sedro-Woolley.

Dale’s funeral and celebration of his life will be held at noon Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1515 E. College Way, Mount Vernon, followed by a graveside committal service at the Lyman City Cemetery, 31154 W. Main St.  There will be a reception afterwards at Lyman Baptist Church in Lyman, WA.

I worked at Snow Mtn. Mills in Anacortes up until it closed in 2010 , Dale hauled log’s in and I would unload his truck . I knew Dale since 1986 from unloading his truck and he made a big impact on my life . I realize that this from the year 2013 , because I was looking for a man I could trust to remove a couple of trees from a property I had just purchased and from dealing with Dale for years I looked him up and I was heart broken . God knows the impact he had left on me . My love goes out to those’s who follow in his steps . You are all blessed for I know I was for knowing Dale .

Connie I am sorry to hear of Dale’s passing.

Connie, so sorry to hear about “Dale” Price. I talked with Dale many times in the time he hauled logs off of our place on Cockreham Island Road. I was in Fort Worth, TX, but still had the place there and he would talk about Jesus, and we would share our love for him. He was so honest, and hard working, he hauled many loads of logs for us after the Forest Service marked them. What a great guy he was, I had lost my husband just a few years before and was going through all of this remodeling and using timber money to do so. He was honest and a man of his word. He spoke of his family, his children, and wanted to know about Texas Christian University (TCU) where I worked for 22 years, and talked of sending his children to a Christian College. I could not believe that he had gone to be with the Lord so young. But he is resting in the arms of Jesus, and I appreciate so much his kindness, honesty and goodness in all the work he did for my daughter and I after my husband’s fatal accident.

God Bless and keep all of you in his care. Our Love and Payers will be with you in the coming days.

Dear Price Family, I did not know Earnest Dale Price personally, but I know the people whose lives have been touched by him. I think of Toby Price, his son who generously gave to Pregnancy Choices to cut our clients hair for free. I know his son, Tim who golfed in a fundraising golf tournament that I organized for victims of human trafficking. I know his precious sister Juanita who serves at a Pregnancy Center in Taiwan. What a godly woman she is. My husband, Diederik Bron taught Cozy at Cascade Middle School. She was one of his first students when we came to this valley from Las Vegas in 1995. He was so impressed by her. So you see, we have been touched by the influence Earnest had in the wonderful people we know in this family. Our heart goes out to all of you especially his mother Arretta and wife, Connie. You never get over the loss of a loved one. You just have to adjust to the fact that they have moved! May God give you all His strength.

I’m writing this note for my whole family. We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Dale and want you to know that we are heavy with sorrow here in North Carolina. We moved away from Hamilton, but we took our friends and the memories with us. Find comfort in knowing that when I went home to tell my folks of the news, they were over flowing with wonderful praises and stories that they shared about Dale and the Price family. Dad retold every hunting story and took out the pictures. He again pointed out Dale in them and reminded me that Dale was a “good” boy. That is a great compliment from any Tar Heel! God Bless all of you. (2061 Shope Road Otto, NC 28763)

    Connie,

How well I remember when you came home from Hawaii so much in love with Dale. Everything fell into place for you – you married the love of your life and spent many years together with your growing family as the boys were born and later, the boys as grown ups bringing their wives and children into your family world. With time, the lasting memories and impact of Dale’s life on so many people will help ease the tears and bring smiles as you fondly remember the blessing he was in your life.

Connie – I am so very sorry to hear of Dale’s passing. He will be so missed by everyone who knew him and no more missed than by you and your family. My heart is heavy for you, as I know what you are going through, and it isn’t easy. Been only 2 1/2 years since I lost Bob and I miss him every day of my life, but know he is in a much better place now and no pain anymore, and that makes me feel better knowing he is with our Lord. That was a awesome poem you wrote. Take care, and stay strong in the Lord and I grant he bring yo u peace and comfort. Love and prayers to all of you and your family.

Connie, I am so very, very sorry for your loss. Dale will be missed by so many and no more than you and your family. His loss will leave a big void. I truly know how you are feeling and what you are going through. Been only 2 1/2 years since I lost Bob and I still miss him greatly, so truly know what you are all going through. Please extend my sympathy to all your family. My love and prayers to all of you.

Connie, Tim, Titus and Toby. Our deepest sympathy for your loss of Dale. He was a great man and will be missed. I (John) have known Dale since I was in the 4th grade and he was always a great example to me both spritually and morally. He had a work ethic that would put most to shame but always seemed to have the time to talk with you. He will be missed by many but we know he is enjoying his long deserved vacation with our Lord in paridise after hearing “Well done my good and faithful servent!”.

  • Bob and Sandy Augir

To Connie and her family our love and prayers. We just heard of Dale’s passing today. Sorry we could not attend his memorial. I am sure the Good Lord has plans for Dale. Will miss him and his smile.

i was at the memorial service, but when i signed the book i wrote something like “this is only the beginning” i must explain: i meant the beginning of ETERNITY for Dale! Amen! what a wonderful service the boys put together, connie! what a tribute to their dad! i know many others also had their hand in that service beginning with GOD!
like many have said, Dale’s life was led in service to the Lord and i’m sure he’s happy there with our God now. but we who are left behind are empty…esp. you Connie, your sons and grandchildren. that is the sad and tough part! connie, tim, titus, toby, wives and grandkids…what a blessing your Dale was to many. you will miss him so very much but rejoice knowing he is with God. Connie, i would really love to come and visit in a month or two when things are settled a bit. love you all, Prices, and will continue to pray for you all.
p.s. Toby’s hair was GREEN, and Dale just said “sure is green….” a real tribute to what kind of father he was<3
