ESTHER LUCILE LARSON, 81, beloved wife of Pastor James Larson, passed away on Monday March 25, 2002 at Parkside Special Care in Sedro-Woolley, WA.
Esther was born on July 21, 1920 in Haviland, Kansas, the daughter of Claude & Goldie Pruitt Stotts. She made her home in Haviland until 1934 when she moved to Denair, CA where she was raised and attended school, graduating from Denair High School in 1938. She then moved to Oakland, CA where she attended business college and worked as a comptometer operator. In 1942 she came to Seattle where she attended Simpson Bible College, and there met her ?Sweetheart for life?, Jim Larson. They were united in marriage in Hood River, Oregon on August 6, 1944. From 1945 to 1952 they made their home in Salem, OR where together they ministered God?s word. In 1952 they moved to Bellingham, WA where they organized and maintained Sunday schools and related ministries for the American Sunday School Union, later to become the American Missionary Fellowship throughout Whatcom, Island and Skagit counties. In 1984 they moved to Sedro-Woolley to be closer to their eastern Skagit County congregations.
Esther enjoyed music, singing with her daughters, cooking, baking and especially making desserts.
Esther is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Jim at the family home. 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte & Paul Furchert of Raymond, WA and Barbara & Stephen Thompson of Mill Creek, WA.
1 sister, Velma Bailey of Roseburg, OR. 3 grandchildren, Natalie Strokson and James & Kimberly Furchert. 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, May Haile, Opal Libby and Florence Stuart and 1 brother, Bud Stotts.
Memorial services will be held Saturday March 30, 2002 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. Pastors Scott Lidbeck and Bryce Bartruff officiating.
Private interment will be at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.
Visitation is available Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9AM to 5 PM and Saturday from 9 ? 10 AM at Lemley Chapel.
