Florence E. Goode, 90, a longtime resident of the Clear Lake community, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 23, 2010.

She was born on December 24, 1919 in Doran, Washington in Whatcom County, the daughter of William & Grace (Larrabee) Dye.   The family later moved to the Prairie area in Skagit County where she was raised and attended school.

In 1935 Florence was united in marriage to Edward Goode in Clear Lake and they made their home there until the early 1960’s when they moved to Alaska where Ed worked in the woods and Florence worked in the logging camps.   They returned to Clear Lake in the early 1970’s where again the made their home.

Florence enjoyed reading, knitting, gardening and canning.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward; a son Thomas; two daughters, Cindy Johnson & Betty Goode; two brothers Herbert & Norman Dye and a sister, Frances Vlahovich.

She is survived by her son, Norman Goode and his wife Joanne of Anacortes and her daughter, Judy Fair and her husband Tom of Burlington; grandchildren, Noli, Tony, Brett, Gail, Clay, Twila, David, Terry, Danny, Shonni, Kenneth, Rhonda, Johnny, Carrie, Scott and Aaron; 34 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

At her request there will be no services.  Private inurnment will be held at the Saxon Cemetery.  Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel,  Sedro-Woolley.

    Although we did not know Florence too well personally, we did consider her to be a woman of strength and courage. She remained independent to a ripe old age. We all would like to have a long life and remain able to function as she did. We are sorry that she had to go; (as we all will) and we offer our condolences to the family.
