Francesca ‘Frances’ Emilia Cugini Horne, 81, a longtime resident of Skagit County, WA passed away on Monday, August 31, 2009 in Sedro-Woolley.
She was born on March 6, 1928 in Val Alta, Italy, the daughter of Isaia and Emilia Cugini.
Francesca moved from Italy to Concrete in 1935 where she attended school, graduating from Concrete High School in 1946.
Francesca met Dave Horne in Mount Vernon and they were married in 1957. His job entailed the supervision of drilling platforms/rigs, and his work took them to many parts of the United States, Brazil and Libya. After Dave’s retirement they retired to Concrete. Dave passed away in 1990.
Francesca was a homemaker and she enjoyed cooking, traveling, and taking care of her family. She was the primary care giver to her father, Isaia Cugini, her mother, Emilia Cugini, and her husband Dave during their final years.
She was a longtime member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Concrete.
Francesca is survived by her son, Rick Loop and his wife, Marilyn, and their children, Lindsey, Heather, and Amy, and great-granddaughter, Rylie. A brother, Siro Cugini and his wife Delia; a niece, Caprice Cardinal and her husband Paul and their children, Cari and Sean; a nephew, Kim Cugini and his wife, Robbie; a niece, Wendy McDaniel; and nephew, Marc McDaniel and his wife, Cheryl, and their children, Ryan and Kira.Besides her husband Dave, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Isaia & Emilia Cugini and her sister and brother-in-law, Tecla & Wendell McDaniel.
A Funeral Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 2:00 PM at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Concrete with Father William Treacy as Celebrant. Inurnment will immediately follow the Mass at the Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete with a reception to follow the services at the CCD Center which is across from the church. Memorials are suggested to the Skagit Valley Kidney Center 206 Hospital Parkway Mount Vernon, WA 98273 or St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.
Cremation and services are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
