Fred Roy Hall, age 84, passed away at his home in Bay View, Washington, on January 31, 2022, from pleural mesothelioma.

Fred was born August 21, 1937, in Sedro-Woolley, WA the oldest of three children of Roy and Nina (Norris) Hall.  He attended Samish Grade School and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1955.

In 1960, Fred was drafted into the Army and married Mary McRae, his sister’s sister in law, on November 24, 1961.  The next day, they loaded their Volkswagen bug and drove to Seaside, CA where Fred’s duties as a cook at Fort Ord began.

They enjoyed the scenery of Yosemite, Monterey, Carmel, the Palace of Fine Arts in San Fransisco and Hearst Castle.

Later a son arrived and out of excitement of a new baby being born, the troops fell victim of Lemon Meringue pie, minus the lemons’

They returned home to make their home in Bayview.  Later a daughter would arrive on their Wedding Anniversary.

Fred worked for Northwest Petrochemical/Technal near Anacortes and was a lifelong volunteer fireman for the Bay View Fire Department.  Fred was a member of Skagit Valley Grange, and a member and treasurer for Bay View Civic Association.

Fred enjoyed his crossword puzzles and lawnmowing and was young at heart with a good fish on the line.  He enjoyed watching the Hummingbirds and deer outside the window.  He enjoyed entertaining his great grandchildren.

Fred is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary; son, Dennis Hall; daughter and son in law, Marilyn and Gerald R. Chandler; two granddaughters, Kristen and Jason Miller and Stephanie and Gavin Johnson; six great grandchildren; brother and sister in law, Roger and Irene Hall; sister and brother in law, Janet and James McRae; cousin, Don Summers and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Nina Hall; grandmother, Vertice Nagel.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley at 11:00, Wednesday, February 9, 2022, followed by Graveside Committal at the Bay View Cemetery, 12513 Bay View Cemetery Road, Mount Vernon with a time of fellowship at the Bay View Civic Hall, 12615 C Street.  Memorials are suggested to Skagit Valley Grange, 27589 Minkler Road, Sedro-Woolley, WA  98284 or Hospice of Northwest Foundation, 227 Freeway Drive, Suite A, Mount Vernon, WA  98273.  The family wishes to thank the medical teams and nursing care and Hospice team that cared for Fred during his cancer battle.  Share your memories of Fred and sign the online guest register.

    Mary I am so sorry for your loss. Was so happy that Terry and I talked to him at the garage sale at the grange. I have so many memories with you both. I grew up with all of you, you were like family. I will cherish my memories and every time i go by the grange i think of all the good times and so much fun we had with mom and dad and all of you.
