George Edgar Shultz, 47, a longtime Skagit County resident, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon following a brief illness.

He was born on May 1, 1964 in Arlington, Washington, the youngest child of Leander and Bette (Miller) Shultz.

He was raised and attended school in Stanwood, graduating from Stanwood High School with the class of 1982.

All of his adult life he worked for Skagit County Public Works, first working on the road crew and then as an engineer; he was the Skagit County lead bridge inspector. He was currently attending the Washington Engineering Institute in Bellingham.

In 2006 George was united in marriage to his longtime companion, Janet Stewart.

Over the years George and his family have made their home on Camano Island and in Alger and had just recently had moved to Sedro-Woolley.

He enjoyed cooking, bowling and a variety of outdoor activities.

He is survived by his wife, Janet at the family home in Sedro-Woolley. His mother, Bette Shultz of Post Falls, Idaho. His children, Charles Shultz and his wife, Jessica of Alger, Mark Mayville and his wife Felicia of Sedro-Woolley, Miranda Sharp and her husband Raymond of Sedro-Woolley, Aaron Brown and his wife Kelley of Silvana, WA and Rebecca Hewitt of Milton, KY. Six grandchildren, Hailey, Jaylyn, Hunter, Isaiah, Raymond Jr. and Amber. One brother, Dave Shultz of Everett; three sisters, Judy Shultz of Mount Vernon, Bonnie Anderson of Post Falls, Idaho and Patty May (Jack) of Rathdrum, Idaho. His mother and father-in-law, Margaret & Joe Stewart of Mount Vernon; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike & Robyn Stewart and Ken & Liz Stewart of Mount Vernon and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Leander Shultz and a brother, Rick Shultz.

A Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Tim Hedberg of the Clear Lake Community Covenant Church officiating. Services and cremation are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
