Gerald Francis Cartwright (Jerry), 84, of Sedro-Woolley, passed away peacefully at home on Monday April 6, 2015. He was born on February 22, 1931 to Donald and Mary Sloan in St. John, North Dakota.

Jerry graduated from Lakota High School in Lakota, North Dakota in 1949. After high school he proudly served in the United States Navy from 1950-1954. Post serving in the Navy he attended Wahpeton State School of Science and received his Electricians Certification.

In 1956 he met the love of his life Margaret (Elaine) Guilbert. They were married on June 29, 1957 in St. John, North Dakota. In the next seven years they had four children; three boys, Kevin, Dean & Todd and then finally a daughter, Shannon.

Jerry was a member of the IBEW Local 714 and worked as an electrician for many years, working on the missile sites in Minot, ND, the Boeing hangers in Everett, WA, and at the University of Washington. In 1974 he moved his family to the Skagit Valley and went to work for Blue Diamond Dairy Service.

He was a member of Saint Charles Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Elaine Cartwright of Sedro-Woolley; Son, Kevin (Kim) of Camano Island, WA, and their daughters Kelsey & Kara; Son, Dean (Teresa) of Sandy, OR and their children, Shawn, Lindsi, Cameron, Cole & Cassidy; Daughter, Shannon (Brian) Lloyd of Bayview, WA and their sons, Brett & Dylan; Great-grandchildren, Sophia, Matthew, Peyton, Harlow & Paisley; Sister, Teresa (Roger) Rohrer of Minot, ND and brother, James Sloan of Lakota, ND as well as numerous other family and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his son Todd James Cartwright; parents, Donald & Mary Sloan and in-laws, Andrew & Charlotte Guilbert.

The family is profoundly grateful for the unwavering love & support our family and friends have given us over the years. A special thank you to Dr. Dillard for his many years of caring for Jerry and to the Visiting Angels, especially Jerry’s favorite angel, Melissa Thompson.
The Rosary will be recited on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with a Memorial Mass on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington. Inurnment will be at Greenhills Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to St. Charles Catholic Church or the Todd Cartwright Memorial Scholarship Fund care of any branch of Skagit Bank.
