Gladys Belles, oldest member of the Upper Skagit Tribe, died at the age of 92 on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Her gentle disposition, wit and love will be sorely missed by all the lives she touched and influenced.

She was born September 29, 1921 on Cochraham Island in Lyman Washington to Charles and Regina Maulch Boome.

Gladys lived in Sedro Woolley most of her life.  She enjoyed reading, baking, cooking, gardening, canning, and crocheting. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and numerous grand and great nephews and nieces.

She is survived by her loving daughters Marjorie Arnold, Jeannie Murphy, Mary (Ralph) Honhongva, Susan (Peter) Dunthorne, granddaughter Tracey (Joe) Graziosi, great grandchildren Katie Rutkowski, Sean Rutkowski and Aaron Angel, great great grandchildren CJ and Jayla Hopson and a special niece Regina Fredberg.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents and twelve siblings, Sylvestor, Lawrence, Harold, Wilfored, Harold II, Juanita, Alexander, Violet, Clarence, Virginia, Raymond and Charles, Jr. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 54 years Arnold West “Tooter” Belles, son-in-law Rueben Arnold and grandson Danny Arnold.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held Saturday, July 19th at the Upper Skagit Gymnasium beginning at 11:00 am.

    so soory for your lost I hope you get this Marjorie hope you are ok it hurts but we will all ways miss them I lost mom in 2005 and i still miss her but she is with the Lord.take care.
