GLADYS M. GARNER, 94, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother went to be with our Lord on November 9, 2002 in Bellingham, WA. Gladys was born December 24, 1907 at the Thames Rear Range Lighthouse at Tillbury, Ontario, Canada. She grew up at the lighthouse where her father was the keeper. She had one sister Geraldine. After nurses training in Ann Arbor, Michigan, she moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1934 where she worked as an RN in a doctor’s office and Children’s Hospital. She married James S. Newton in 1936 and from that marriage she had two sons. James preceded her in death in 1941. She married Albert Dober in 1944 and moved to a farm near Forest Grove, OR. And from that marriage they had a daughter. Albert preceded her in death in 1948. Gladys operated the farms for many years raising her three children. She married Jess Garner in 1962 and together they enjoyed working the farms, camping, and salmon fishing. Jess preceded her in death in 1978. Gladys then moved to a home in Forest Grove when she resided until moving to Bellingham, WA in 1999 to be closer to her family. She later moved to Lynden Adult Family Home in 2000. Gladys is survived by her sons Myril and his wife Glenna Newton and family of Leominster, MA and Charles and his wife Colleen Newton and family of Bellingham, WA. And a daughter Dorothy and her husband Doug Buchner and family of Clackamas, OR.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 12, 2002 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Leon Meyer of Calvary Baptist Church of Burlington officiating with burial to follow at the Lyman Cemetery.
