GLADYS P. JACKSON, 84, A Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away at her home on Wednesday April 17, 2002 surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 23, 1918 in Jay, Oklahoma, a daughter of William & Ollie Dempsey Edmonds. Gladys was raised and attended school in Jay, OK and there was united in marriage to Clifford B. Jackson on August 23, 1932. They made their home in Vinita, Oklahoma until coming to Skagit County in 1947. They lived in Big Lake and Clear Lake before settling in Sedro-Woolley.
Gladys was a devoted wife and mother to her family. With a family of 10 children she split her time at being a cook, chauffeur, referee, nurse and mom and then grandmother to her family. When time allowed she enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Sue & Delbert Workman of Centralia, WA, Wayne Jackson, Larry & Carolyn Jackson, Sherry Palmer, Patty & Walt Shearer, Don & Diana Jackson and Susan & John Allison, all of Sedro-Woolley, WA, Phyllis & Tom Spencer of Longview, WA and Janice & Danny Davis of Puyallup, WA. 5 brothers and 5 sisters. There are also numerous grand, great and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford in 1976, a son Gerald in 1991 and a daughter-in-law, Laraine Jackson in 2001.
Graveside services will be held Monday April 22, 2002 at 2:00 pm at Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Pastor Dan Panter of Valley Baptist Church officiating. Visitation is available at Lemley Chapel. The family suggests memorials to the Diabetes Foundation. Arrangements under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
