Greta Marie (Cyr) Bradley

Greta Marie (Cyr) Bradley

Tuesday, September 16th, 2014

Greta Marie (Cyr) Bradley, 84, a former Concrete area resident, passed away on September 16, 2014 at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, Washington.

She was born on September 1, 1930 in Van Buren, Maine to Everett and Almeda Cyr. She was raised in Van Buren and graduated from the Catholic school there in 1948. Upon graduation, she was employed at the local telephone office and operated the manual switchboard.

She met John “Jack” Dale Bradley while he was a serviceman at the Caswell Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine. They were married on May 22, 1954 at St. Bruno’s Church in Van Buren. They moved west to Jack’s hometown of Concrete, Washington. She was the mother to 2 children – (John) Scott Bradley and Rose Bradley (Auvil).

Greta enjoyed her years as a homemaker. She supported her husband in his teaching and coaching career and often traveled with the teams to take stats or keep scores. Led by her compassion for others, Greta often took time to visit people in the hospitals, nursing homes or individual homes and brought a ray of sunshine to their lives. Jack and she were purposeful in keeping family ties and the family often traveled to Nebraska, South Dakota and Maine during the summers to visit relatives.

Greta and Jack enjoyed traveling and dancing. They resided in Concrete, Bellingham, and Sultan, Washington. Greta moved to Orondo, Washington and then her final residence was at Hearthstone Assisted Living in East Wenatchee, Washington. Greta was small in stature but large in compassion, kindness and helpfulness. She had a smile bright enough to light up a room.

Greta is survived by her sister, Cora (Cyr) Sirois of Van Buren, Maine; her 2 children, (John) Scott Bradley of East Wenatchee and Rose (Bradley) Auvil and her husband Tom of Orondo and 2 granddaughters,  Megan Auvil of Seattle and Jaclyn Auvil of Orondo. She is preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Alemda Cyr and her brother Rudy Cyr.

The Rosary will be recited on Sunday, September 21st at 7:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley followed by a Funeral Mass on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.

Rose, Tom, Girls and Scott…. We are sorry for your loss of Greta & offer you our prayers during this sorrowful time. She was a rather quite person but friendly with the biggest smile always & loved to visit and was always interested in what we or our family were doing.
She was a great parent, mother, wife & grandma. Greta and my cousin Jack were a great team… and now they can have that in heaven. We thank God for calling her home after that severe stroke, calling her home to be with him after serving him as a good and faithful servant through the years. It was so nice that you and Greta could be with us at all the “Thramer Reuions” including last year in Montana that was special. May her soul and all the Souls of the faithfully departed, through the Mercy of God rest in Peace…. Love U 2….

Dear Rose, Scott, Tom, Megan and Jaclyn.
I have these wonderful memories of your parents back in Concrete when our family lived there, stopping by my parents house for a visit whether in Concrete or Wilson Creek. – in Wilson Creek it was on the motorbike! I loved hearing your mom talk, and share stories of their travels or about Rose and Scott. I also remember the importance of staying connected to people that both of your parents had. Your mom’s beautiful and calming smile, and her deep love and commitment for family and others. What a gift.

My deepest sympathies to you and the whole family.

So many years ago the Bradley family moved to Birdsview. I remember many visits to the Bradley home and what a wonderful close family they were. Many years later, Greta used to come visit my husband and I at our store in Burlington. She was always so happy and proudly telling us what her family had been doing. And all about the wonderful little granddaughters she had.
Greta always was so kind, I doubt she ever said an unkind word about anyone.
May the memories you have of your mom get you through this difficult time. And know we are all there for you whenever you need us.
    We’ll miss you Greta.

    Dearest Rose, Scott and family,
I have so many Bradley family memories they are too numerous for here.
However one thing that comes up regularly is Greta and her fantastic German Chocolate Cakes
she used to make me for my birthday. I am not a cake eater today but about
once a year I bring out Greta’s recipe to make for friends and family.
Everyone loves it! I do many more times a year tell the story of Greta’s
cake, how she made the favorite cake for me and how precious thus memory
    and recipe is to me!
Greta was always a great and dedicated friend!
    All my sympathies,
    Deanna Ray
