HAROLD E. ‘GENE’ JONES, 55, a lifelong Concrete area resident passed away on Friday November 22, 2002 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Gene was born on August 29, 1947 in Sedro-Woolley, WA, the son of Ernest and Fern Bowers Jones. He was raised and attended school in Concrete, graduating with the class of 1967. He served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany during the Viet Nam Conflict. Gene worked as a truck driver for Hornbeck Logging, L.G. Cunningham Logging and for the P&W Cedar Products shake mill. Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his bike up and down Highway 20.
He is survived by his brothers, Howard of Mount Vernon, Ralph & his wife Donna of Sedro-Woolley and Tom & John Jones, both of Concrete. His sisters, Marge Ketchum and her husband Bill of Everett and Mary Hanson and husband Gary of North Bend, WA. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers Lloyd, Walt and Sam Jones and 2 sister-in-laws, Linda Jones and Nadine Jones and a special friend, Marie Noisey. The family suggests memorials be made to the Concrete Food Bank. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2002 at 2:00 PM. at the Hamilton Cemetery, Pastor Don Coulter of the Living Faith Foursquare Church in Burlington officiating. Military honors provided by the George Baldridge Past #43 of Sedro-Woolley. Visitation will be on Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
