Harriet Lundquist

Monday, August 6th, 2018

Harriet Barbara (Faber) Lundquist, 94, passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2018.  She was born March 25, 1924 in Oak Harbor, WA to Mike and Anna (Wibalda) Faber.  Harriet was the youngest of five children, joining older sister, Alice and older brothers, Irvin, Jake and Harold.  She attended Oak Harbor Grade School and Oak Harbor High School graduating with the class of 1942.  That year, NAS Whidbey moved into Oak Harbor, taking her parent’s farm.  Harriet and her parents then moved to a farm in the Avon area of Skagit County.  Harriet married later in life (for those times) and so was a working woman and in her words “had the best jobs” doing office work for Leckenby Seed Co., Dr. Donald Hammond, John F. Martin & Sons and the First United Methodist Church, all in Mount Vernon.

She met Robert (Bob) Lundquist and they were married on June 22, 1962.  Their family expanded with the birth of daughter, Lori in 1963 and son, Gary in 1964.  They were happily married for 27 years when Bob died suddenly.  After Bob’s death, Harriet filled her time volunteering at the First United Methodist Church, reading, doing word search puzzles and going out to eat with her close friends and family.

She leaves behind her children, Lori & Chris Flores of Sedro-Woolley and Gary & Kim Lundquist of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren, Adriana Flores of Tacoma, Amy Flores of Queen Creek, AZ, Dylan Lundquist of Chandler, AZ, Shauna Flores of Sedro-Woolley and McKenzie Lundquist of Chandler, AZ; sisters-in-law, Laurene McCullough and Anne Lundquist of Mount Vernon and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; parents;  sister & brother-in-law, Alice and Frank Cuperus; brothers and sisters-in-law, Irvin & Bernice Faber, Jake & Becky Faber, Harold & Theresa Faber; brother-in-law Bill Lundquist.

A celebration of Harriet’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Mount Vernon First United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1607 E. Division St, Mount Vernon, WA 98274.  Please share your memories of Harriet and sign the online guest register.
