Harvey C. Nichols a former longtime Sedro-Woolley resident passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at the Cashmere Convalescent Center in Cashmere, WA at the age of 85 years. He was born September 25, 1916 in Lyman, Washington the son of Walter and Martha Leggett Nichols. Harvey grew up and attended schools in Lyman and Sedro-Woolley graduating from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1934. He worked as a logger and truck driver until the mid 1940’s when he began working as a truck driver for Herm Romer who operated Skagit Supply the local 76 Union fuel distributing business for over 30 years. Harvey was the assistant chief and battalion chief and also known as the ‘PR Man’ of the Sedro-Woolley Volunteer Fire Department for many years as well as serving as the chief for Fire District #8. He was one of the founders and original coaches of the Sedro-Woolley Little League and he also enjoyed traveling in his travel trailer. Harvey was married to Glenda Sinclair on September 29, 1939 in Sedro-Woolley and she preceded him in death on May 25, 1997. He is survived by his son and daughter in law Dennis and Georgeanne Nichols of Leavenworth, WA. Grandchildren Melissa and her husband Lawrence Graves of Seattle, WA and Staci and her husband Loren Zenonian and their children Emma and Joel of Enumclaw, WA. A brother Owen Nichols of Bellingham, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers Ray and George Nichols.
Memorial Services will be Monday, July 8, 2002 at 11:00 AM at Lemley Chapel with Pastor Tim Griffin of the Northern Peaks Christian Fellowship officiating. Inurnment will be in the niche wall at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Arrangemnts and Services under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
