Hazel “Eldora” Hunter passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at her home in Clear Lake at the age of 91.  She was born in Savonburg, Kansas on January 21, 1920 to Albert and Ada Mead.

Eldora was living in Riverside, California when she married William (Bill) Hunter in January of 1944.  They moved to the Skagit Valley in 1949 where they purchased a home in Clear Lake .

Bill and Eldora did not have children of their own, but instead opened their home to foster  children, eventually adopting a brother and sister; David and Carlene.   Eldora was a devoted wife and homemaker, nature lover, artist, musician, bird watcher, rock hound, lover of flowers and an active member of the Clear Lake  Covenant Church.  She worked at the Clear Lake Post Office part time as a clerk for over 20 years, retiring in the mid 1970’s.

Eldora was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister Vera and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Hunter Boston.  She is survived by a sister, Betty Covert of

Bakersfield, CA and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Graveside Services will be Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 2:00PM at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Coupeville, WA with Pastor Tim Hedberg of the Clear Lake Covenant Church officiating.  Memorials are suggested to the Clear Lake Covenant Church or Northwest Hospice.  Arrangements
