Hazel Lescille Christianson Baker Mast, 87, passed away peacefully, March 28, 2016, with her family by her side.
She was born April 26, 1928, in Bellingham, Washington, to Elizabeth Beatrice and Harry Leslie Christianson. Hazel moved to the Sterling district of Sedro-Woolley as a young child. She attended Sterling Grade School and Sedro-Woolley High School, graduating with the class of 1946.
Hazel married Donald Baker on August 14, 1954. Don preceded her in death on May 2, 1971. On September 22, 1972, Hazel married Raymond Baker. Raymond preceded her in death on December 17, 2003. On May 2, 2008, Hazel married Vern Mast.
Hazel worked for J C Penney in Sedro-Woolley for many years. Hazel enjoyed her family and hosted many events at the family home on Jameson Street. Her family enjoyed her pies, especially rhubarb and little wild blackberry. Hazel loved fishing, gardening, woodworking and helping others. Hazel volunteered for Meals on Wheels in Sedro-Woolley, delivering meals and assisting in the kitchen, helping to prepare and serve meals. She was in fellowship with a world-wide group of Christians.
Hazel is survived by husband, Vern Mast; sister, Nelva Shandera; son, Rick (Lucia) Baker; daughter, Dee (Bruce) Berglin; grandchildren, Joey (Blake) Gross, Shelby (Skyler) Croy, Kristen Kelly, and AJ (Allison) Berglin; great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Eli, and Cassidy Croy and Kennedy and Brayden Gross; brother-in-law, Ellsworth Baker and sister-in-law, Betty Hansen.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Donald Baker and Raymond Baker; brother, Dennis Christianson; sister-in-law, Jean Christianson and brother, Rodney Christianson.
A graveside service will be held on Friday April 1, 2016 at 11:00am, at Greenhills Memorial Cemetery, located at the corner of Gardner Road and Alliston Lane, Burlington, WA 98233 (1 block off of highway 20). Viewing will be held from 2pm to 7pm on Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Lemley Chapel, 1008 Third Street, Sedro-Woolley, WA 98284.
A reception will follow at the Big Lake Fire Hall, 16822 W Big Lake Blvd, Mount Vernon, WA 98274. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of the Northwest, 227 Freeway Drive, Suite A, Mt. Vernon, WA 98273, or Skagit Valley Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 1376, Mt. Vernon, WA 98273.
