Herbert ‘Herb’ Hansen

Wednesday, April 5th, 2023

Herbert ‘Herb’ Francis Hansen, age 82, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, Washington passed away April 5, 2023, at Harborview Hospital, Seattle, with his loving family by his side.  This heartbreaking loss was due to his injuries sustained during a tragic accident on March 6, 2023.  He was born March 12, 1941, in Mount Vernon, WA to Henry and Marie (Roger) Hansen.

Herb was an extraordinary human being, who loved his family, friends, and his farm.  He was an active leader and member within the community through his various involvements in the Skagit County Farm Bureau, WA state and Skagit County Cattlemens’ Association, longtime Ag Advisory Board Member of the Sedro-Woolley High School and chaperone for the FFA/4H/Holstein trips.  He preferred to stay busy, whether through his community involvement, or spending time on his farm and with his loved ones.  He enjoyed hiking, camping, fishing, riding four wheelers and horses, breeding cows, and barbequing.  He loved taking random trips with loved ones for a treat out of town and going to meet up with his 1959 classmates for their annual trek to Winthrop.  He loved adventures, road trips, and the beautiful outdoors.  He was a huge animal lover, especially when it came to cats, dogs, horses, and his Holstein cows.

Herb was the sweetest, most hardworking and honest man, who was very well loved and treasured by his family, friends, and all who knew him.  He was a true fighter, who was tough as nails with a heart of gold.  He was the biggest goofball when he was in his silly moods, with his silly faces, adorable giggle, joking spirit, and sneaking his sweets whenever he had a chance.  He was soft-spoken, and a true gentleman.  There are so many treasured memories that his loved ones will forever keep close to their hearts.  Everyone you ask will tell you some of their favorite memories of Herb, while at the same time tell you those memories and time spent were never long enough, as we all wish for just a bit more time with him.

Herb is survived by his wife, Judy; their children, Tony (Kris) Hansen, Holly (Dave) Froneberger, Sherman Hansen, Brandon (Alice) Hansen, Lance Hansen (fiancé, Ashley Brown), Shelby (Abhishek) Dey; two former daughter-in-laws, Becky Hansen and Natasha Garcia; grandchildren, Chelsea Hansen, Carly Fronenberger, Scottie Hansen, Tyler Hansen, Andrew Hansen, Bryce Hansen, Dane Hansen, Shawn Froneberger, Anna Hansen and Luke Hansen; great-granddaughter, Aurora Hansen; cousins, Bruce Moran and Craig (Marcella) Moran; brother-in-law, Bob Simpson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Herb Hansen, Jr.; sister, Carmen Hansen; in-laws, Ole and Doris Moen; siblings-in-law Nadine Simpson, Felice Moen, Ned and Jack Moen.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00, Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Lyman Baptist Church, Mister Jim Cook officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Skagit County Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund in honor of Herb Hansen, through Janice Schmidt (treasurer) at 6939 Gallagher Road, Concrete, WA 98237.  The family would like to extend their gratitude to those who have shared their thoughts, prayers, support, and love during this time.
