Hilda Aleta Brooks, 92, of Sedro-Woolley passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Hilda was born in November 25, 1921 to Luther and Iva Lacey in Douglass, Kansas. She was married to Clifford Brooks on July 15, 1939 in Newton, Kansas.

Hilda is survived by her son, Dale Brooks (Pat), of Sedro-Woolley; four daughters, Kathy Rainbolt, of Texas, Karen Forbus (Euell), of Arkansas, Carolyn Cone (Steven), of Texas, and Linda Hancock (Bob), of Mississippi; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Iva Lacey; husband, Clifford; brothers, Miles Lacey, KS, Virgil Lacey, CA; sisters, Jewel Winslow, KS, Laura June Bishop, TX; granddaughter, Stephanie Brooks, Sedro-Woolley; step-mother, Faye Lacey, KS; step-sisters, Jeretta Mouser, KS, and Dora Mae Beaty, UT.

A celebration of Hilda’s life will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 2:00PM in the south entrance foyer of the Skagit Senior Village, 400 Gilkey Rd., Burlington, WA.  Memorial Contributions may be made to The Gideons International, PO Box 140800 Nashville, TN.

    I first met Hilda when she moved into Creekside. Such a lady- she would just giggle when I would call her by the wrong name when she first moved in ! Hilda was a joy to know- a true lady.
