Imogene Lamarr (Magner) Geiger

Imogene Lamarr (Magner) Geiger

Wednesday, December 16th, 2015

Our loving Mother, Imogene Lamarr (Magner) Geiger was born in Bellingham, WA on April 22, 1926 and passed away in her home at Brookdale in Mill Creek on December 14, 2015 with her children at her side.

Imogene was raised in Bellingham and graduated from Fairhaven High School in 1944. Shortly after graduation she left for Long Beach, CA and began working at Douglas Aircraft as one of many “Rosie the Riveters” to assist in the war effort. She met her husband to-be, Warren Raymond Geiger shortly after her arrival in California.  He was stationed with the US Navy at Point Fermin, and was originally from Cementon, PA. They were married Sept. 16, 1944, a happy marriage that lasted through April 7, 2001 when Warren passed away.  Together they travelled the world and visited six of the seven continents, seeking to see the wonders of the world.  Imogene continued to travel up until a few months prior to her death.

Through their 57 years of marriage they built Geiger’s Custom Cleaning which began in 1947 and continues to operate today under the same name. In 1963 they purchased the Mode O’ Day franchise in Sedro-Woolley and sold it in 1966.

Imogene was very musical and enjoyed playing the piano and ukulele and especially enjoyed listening to slap key Hawaiian music.

Over the years she volunteered on many charities; teaching children to read in Clear Lake Elementary School with Jan Mahaffie and for years working on the Election Board Committee.

She was active at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Sedro-Woolley until her move in 2010 to Mill Creek. Many lifetime friends were made in fellowship.  She continued to enjoy Bible Study through the weekly Bible study at Brookdale.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi since 1955. She truly enjoyed her many Beta sisters and the many good works of charity they performed throughout the years.

Imogene is survived by her two children: daughter, Lamarr Linda Geiger Coler and her husband, Bruce, of Bothell, WA; son, Steven Raymond Geiger, of Anacortes, WA; grandsons, Kenneth Geiger Coler and his wife, Rachelle, of Renton and Anthony Raymond Geiger and his wife, Tawna, of Anacortes; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Harrison Coler of Renton, Isabella and Alexis Geiger, of Anacortes.

She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Cyndi Walley Geiger.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 1:00pm at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 10217 Collins Road, Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Wendy Tingley officiating.

A committal service will be at Union Cemetery, Sedro-Woolley.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Sedro-Woolley Public Library.  Arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

La Mar and Steven, I was your babysitter a long time ago. I remember your Mom
and Dad with such fondness. They were always very good to me and when
going out they always were so much fun. I remember you both and am sorry for your loss

Imogene was a wonderful lady. She was my Girl Scout leader and I was lucky to have time to visit with her over all these years. She was the first positive woman in my life, and inspired me to be the same. The last time I visited with her – we had lunch – she told the server “this is one of my Girl Scouts”.
Lamarr take care of yourself – and I am so very sorry for your loss.
