Jack Swartz

Jack Swartz

Wednesday, September 21st, 2022

Jack Swartz, 93, a longtime resident of Burlington, WA, passed away in his home on September 21, 2022.   He was born to L. Vern Swartz and Zella Mae (Garrison) on March 11, 1929 in Sunnyside, WA.

He served in the US Army in Korea. He traveled the world, fished until he couldn’t get out the door anymore, raised a family along with the love of his life, Mary.

He started TRICO Contracting and changed a lot of Skagit and Whatcom counties roads, bridges, sidewalks, parking lots, malls, grocery stores, housing developments, and so much more.   If you ever drove down the two-lane roads of Garl Street, College Way or Riverside Dr, lived or golfed at Eaglemont, shopped at the Cascade or Outlet Malls, eaten fresh crab from his crab pots (whether you got to his pots before he did or enjoyed them by his pool), worked for TRICO or knew someone who did, or swam in their pool, then your life has been touched by this man.

He was a member and former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus; he loved his Catholic faith and was a daily communicant.

He is survived by his children, Garry Swartz, Tom (Liz) Swartz, Bill (Patti) Swartz, Catherine Gwilliam (the late Dr. Tim Gwilliam); 19 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Swartz; his son, Larry Swartz; siblings; his sweet dog Alex.

A Vigil will be held Friday, October 21, 2022 at 7:00,  a Funeral service on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 10:00, both at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Sedro-Woolley, followed by the interment at Greenhills Cemetery in Burlington.  A reception to follow at the Church Hall in Sedro Woolley.
