James B. Hodgins ‘Willie Bob’, a former long time resident of Skagit County and Bellingham for the past 18 years, passed away Friday, September 15, 2006 at his home near Bellingham, WA at the age of 66 years. He was born September 11, 1940 in Lyman, WA, the son of Fred and Ethel Williamson Hodgins.
Willie Grew up in Lyman and Sedro-Woolley attending school and later served with the US Army with NATO Forces in Europe during the early 1960’s. He later worked in the sheet metal business and also worked with the Viet Nam Veterans Forward Group assisting in obtaining benefits for veterans. He maintained a Safe House for anyone who needed a place to stay. He was involved with the Lummi Indians and was well respected by them. Willie enjoyed working and tinkering with his old truck and he enjoyed animals.
He is survived by his son Cliff Hodgins and his wife, Terri of Sedro-Woolley and his daughter Melissa Manke and her husband, Dixon of Burlington and their children, Cameron, Zachary, Kody, Dustin, and Bradley. Two brothers, Don K. Hodgins of Seattle and Dewey H. Hodgins of Black Diamond and two sisters, Evelyn Buchanan and her husband Richard and Linda Parker and her husband James all of Sedro-Woolley. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Clifford Hoke in 1996.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Willie Bob’s care givers; Paul and Karen, Larry, Maria, Lorna, Vi, and all his special friends and they were truly God’s angels.
Graveside Services will be Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at 1:00 PM at the Lyman Cemetery with Pastor Rick Miles of the Day Creek Chapel officiating; Military Honors to follow by George Baldridge Post #43 American Legion.
Visitation will be Monday, September 18, 2006 from 9AM to 5PM at Lemley Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Viet Nam Forward Group, Bellingham, WA. Arrangements and Services under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
