James E. McDaniel, 89, a former Burlington area resident, passed away on December 16, 2016 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.

Jim was born on October 4, 1927 in Los Angeles, CA, the son of Hugh & Alice (Goode) McDaniel.  His family shortly thereafter moved to Clear Lake, WA where he was raised and attended grade school, and he graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1947.

Jim then worked in the timber industry for several years.  On June 25, 1954 he was united in marriage to Lois Jensen and they made their home in Northport, WA where he worked for his family’s shake mill until moving to Bothell, WA where he worked as an equipment maintenance mechanic for Ridgeway Packaging until his retirement in 1992. In 1998 he and Lois moved to Burlington.  Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and puttering in his yard.

Jim is survived by his sons, James McDaniel and his fiancée Amy Grenier of Burlington, and Wally McDaniel and wife Lauren of Lake Stevens; 2 grandchildren, Samantha & Aiden; 2 sisters, Louise Dorcy of Mount Vernon and Nancy Lanphere of Burlington; his brother, Alvin McDaniel (Henrietta) of Superior, AZ and several nieces, nephews and extended family.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lois and sister, Christine Browning.

At Jim’s request there will be no services. Private inurnment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Park.  Memorials in honor of Jim at suggested to your preferred charity.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
