James A. ‘Jim’ Moody, 80, a lifelong Hamilton area resident, passed away on May 3, 2016.
Jim was born on November 29, 1935 at the family home in Punkin Center, (Hamilton) the son of Brice & Hattie “Mollie” (Dills) Moody. He grew up in a large family, 6 brothers and 4 sisters. He attended school in Hamilton and Sedro- Woolley.

On June 24, 1960 he married Nancy LaFluer and for the past 56 years they have made their home in Birdsview.
Jim worked as a tree faller in the timber industry for many years. He loved all the outdoor activities that each season would bring. In the spring he would go in search of morel mushrooms and watercress, go fishing in the local creeks, Lake Shannon and the Nooksack River. In the summer he took the family camping, mostly at Baker Lake. In the fall he picked fir cones, went deer and elk hunting and with his dog Jasper went grouse hunting; when he was younger he trapped beaver, muskrat and otter, selling the pelts to buy Christmas gifts for his family. After his retirement he and Nancy enjoyed traveling throughout the states.
Jim is survived by his wife Nancy; son LeRoy Wilson (Jen), and daughters Shirley Moody and Terry Hauenstein (Jeff); 3 grandchildren, Jeffery (Alyssa), Jason (Heidi) and Colette; 3 great-grandchildren, Jeffery, Chloe and Blake; siblings, Tom Moody (Sharon), Dan Moody (Donna), Roberta ‘Babe’ Melton (Ray) and Dorothy Lawler; brother-in-law, John Gallagher; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents; 4 brothers, Mack, Jack, Ed and John Moody and 2 sisters, Nellie Mani and Bonnie Gallagher.
The Moody family would like to thank the staff at Home Place in Burlington and at United General Hospital for their loving care of Jim.

    Jim
It was an honor to have been your son-in-law all the years Shirley and I were together and to have remained your friend. May your trails be full of tall timber, your forests full of game and your rivers full of fish. May your pockets forever be full of sawdust. You will be missed.

  • Ed and Joan Rayfield

We have a garden full of beautiful dahlias thanks to Jim’s sharing his bulbs. We think of him every summer when they bloom. He will be missed.
