James (Jim) VanDelinder, a longtime resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on May 12, 2023 at United General Hospital at 61 years of age.

Jim held many roles in life, son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. In his younger years, Jim served time in the Air Force where he learned the plumbing trade. He was a journeyman laborer, pipefitter, and plumber in his lifetime. Jim was a proud member of UA local 26 of Western Washington. Jim loved to talk about the work he did building schools around Western Washington.

Jim loved to be outdoors. He loved to hunt for mushrooms, go fishing, garden, tinker, or have some drinks around the fire. He helped coach youth sports for many years when his son was younger. His nieces and nephew always loved spending time with him. Jim loved dogs and cats but had a special place in his heart for his dogs, Lucy and Bear.

Jim enjoyed watching and listening to sports. He was an avid fan of the Mariners, Seahawks, and recently, the Kraken. Since Jim passed, the most common phrase his family has heard has been how much people liked him. He was ornery as can be, but people enjoyed being around him.

Jim is survived by his son, Chris (Jen) VanDelinder; daughter, Jenny (Danny) Goss; grandchildren, Tyler Goss, Kaitlyn Goss, Kenzi Goss, Callie Goss, Blake VanDelinder, Ailyah VanDelinder, Sophia VanDelinder; sisters, Carla, Crystal; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chuck VanDelinder, Beverly (Tom) Maddy; brother, Vernon VanDelinder.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00, on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Lemley Chapel, 1008 Third St., Sedro-Woolley, WA.  With his love of animals, donations may be made to the Skagit Humane Society in his name.  Share your memories of Jim and sign the online guest register.
