James Joseph Healy ‘Jim’, age 78, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the Burton Care Center in Burlington, Washington.

He was born August 13, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois the son of James and Mary Horgan Healy. Jim grew up and attended school in the Chicago area.

He was united in marriage to Lovern Smith on November 11, 1955 in San Diego, California and they resided in Santee, California for 32 years until moving to Sedro-Woolley in 2003.

Jim worked as a Master Electrician in heavy construction in nuclear power plants and retired from Local IBEW 569 in San Diego.

Jim was a devout Catholic spending many years as an extraordinary minister. He attended Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in San Diego, CA for 32 years. During the last 6 years, he attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley. He has finally gone to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Jim enjoyed reading, gardening and being involved with his church.

His family would like to share their pride in one of his greatest achievements, being sober for the last 38 years of his life. During this time, he was an active member of AA who helped many people to achieve sobriety.

Jim lived a full and happy life. He was blessed to be surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren during the final moments of his life.

Survivors include his wife, Lovern Healy of Sedro-Woolley. His seven children; Mary Cable of San Diego, CA, Cathy Rowe and her husband Tom of Sedro-Woolley, Sheila Erickson and her husband Arlo of San Diego, CA, Patrick Healy and his wife Han of Everett, Bridget Healy of San Diego, CA, Margaret Gomez and her husband Armando and Dorothy Lawrence and her husband Karl all of Sedro-Woolley. 2 sisters, Kathleen Abbney and Sheila Liebfried and his brother, Bernard Healy all of Chicago, IL. Ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Timothy Joseph Healy.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 9:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley with Father Martin Bourke, Celebrant. Memorials are suggested to Propagation to the Faith or the Sedro-Woolley Food Bank. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
