James M. Parker, age 61, passed away in the arms of his Lord with his family at his side on Sunday, September 17, 2006 at the Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA, after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
He was born November 24, 1944 in Sylva, North Carolina, the son of Robert and Elizabeth Moore Parker.
James grew up in North Carolina and moved to Sedro-Woolley 49 years ago. He worked as a sawyer and packer in the shingle industry for many years until working at the Shell and Texaco Refineries in Anacortes as a foreman, retiring in August of 2005.
James was married to Linda Hodgins on December 10, 1965 at the Lyman First Baptist Church and they resided on the Lyman Hamilton Highway for the past 34 years. He was a very strong Christian man and belonged to the Lyman First Baptist Church. James enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Wildcat Steelhead Club. His hobbies included wood working, hiking, fixing things, and spending time with his special grandkids Dalton and Kristen. He will be remembered by his daughters for helping them learn algebra during high school and always getting the correct answers; Dad always came up with the right answer without following the book and by his wife Linda for being able to fix anything that she broke.
James is survived by his wife Linda Parker of the family home in Sedro-Woolley. His daughters, Jamie Hitt and her husband Ken and their son Dalton and Janet Schorno and her husband Dave and their daughter Kristen all of Sedro-Woolley. Three brothers, Walter R.
