Our beloved Jan lost her long & courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, September 9, 2006, surrounded by her loving family at her home at Big Lake. She was 75 years of age.
Jan was born on January 24, 1931 in Bellingham, WA, the daughter of George & Elizabeth Archibald Edquist.
She was raised and attended grade school in Lyman and then attended and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1949.
Jan worked at several food & beverage establishments throughout Skagit County for many years.
In 1974 she was united in marriage to Bill Brigham in Reno, Nevada and together they made their home in Skagit County until moving to southeast Alaska in 1985. In 1998 they returned to Skagit County, making their home at Big Lake.
Jan enjoyed flower gardening, camping & fishing, listening to country music, being with her family and cuddling with her beloved cat, Callie.
She is survived by her husband, Bill at the family home at Big Lake. Two sons, John Abrahamson and his wife, Cindy of Lyman and Jeff Abrahamson of Concrete. Her daughter, Georgann Johnson and her husband, Rusty of Day Creek. Four step-daughters, Bonnie Brigham of Samish Island, Jannette Brigham of Mount Vernon, Deanna Brigham Howard and her husband, Neil of San Jose, CA and Dawn Brigham VanPelt of Camano Island. Her sister, Georgia Schopf of Mount Vernon; One niece, Debi Gustafson of Sedro-Woolley and one nephew, Greg Johnston of Palmer, Alaska. 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a daughter, Jacquie Torgerson on Sept. 3, 2006.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff at the Regional Cancer Care Center at Skagit Valley Hospital and at Skagit Hospice for their care. They request that memorials be made to the Regional Cancer Care Center, 1415 E. Kincaid St., Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
Graveside Inurnment services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Pastor Rick Miles of the Day Creek Chapel officiating. A potluck fellowship will follow at the American Legion Hall, 701 Murdock Street in Sedro-Woolley.
Services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
