Janie Walker, 62, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, September 5, 2009.
She was born in Missouri on January 31, 1947, the daughter of John & Lilly Barnett Walker.
Janie lived in Missouri until 1950 when the family moved to the Skagit Valley, settling near Big Lake and where she was raised and attended grade school. She graduated from high school in Sedro-Woolley with the class of 1965.
She moved to King County where she earned a nursing degree and started her family. She eventually returned to the Skagit Valley settling in Sedro-Woolley and worked as a nurse at the Life Care Center and for Visiting Nurses for several years.
She then started a residential cleaning service which she operated for about 15 years until her health forced her retirement.
Janie is survived by her two sons, Tim & Brian Lanata, both of Sedro-Woolley. Five grandchildren, Cassie, Jeremie, Breyon, Micah and Keenan Lanata, and one great-granddaughter, Aniah McCoy. Four brothers, Bill Walker of Alger, Jim Walker of Oroville, WA Donny Walker of Republic, WA and Mack Walker of Mount Vernon. Two sisters, Judy Dillard in Arizona and Patty Walker in Alabama and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation was under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
