Jean Hill

Monday, April 9th, 2018

Jean Hill, 79, a longtime Skagit Valley resident, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 5, 2018.

Jean was born on October 9, 1938 in Sylva, NC one of six children of Charlie & Bertha Gibbs.

Jean’s family moved to Skagit County in the early 1940’s, settling for a time in Clear Lake and where Jean attended grade school, later moving to Sedro-Woolley where she attended high school.

Jean was first united in marriage to Earlie Franks, and from that marriage her children, Kenny and Karen were born.  In 1977 she married the love of her life Francis ‘Butch’ Hill and they made their home in Big Lake and Mount Vernon.

Jean worked as an assembly line supervisor for Rothenbuhler Engineering in Sedro-Woolley for over 25 years.  She enjoyed gardening and cooking; was an enthusiastic football fan, an impeccable home decor designer and most importantly relished the time she had with her family.  Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her life. She is so greatly loved by her family and will be missed dearly.

Jean is survived by her children and their spouses, Kenny & Mary Franks of Big Lake and Karen & Dave Christensen of Clear Lake; her sisters, Bertha Rogers (Chuck) of Conway, Kathy Gallagher of Sedro-Woolley and Marti Queen (Dub) of Burlington; grandchildren, Jason Franks (Lindsey), Jennifer Misner (Aaron), Christina Leber (Kyle) and Alisa Manley (Terrel Torgerson); great-grandchildren, Noah Franks and Sawyer & Weston Leber; brother-in-law, Ernie Adams and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband ‘Butch’ Hill; brother, Charles ‘Jr’ Gibbs, sister-in-law Dorothy Gibbs, and sister, Edith Adams and brother-in-law, Chuck Gallagher.

The Hill family wishes to acknowledge and thank Dr. Kojouri and the staff for their loving care.  Memorials in honor of Jean are suggested to the Regional Cancer Care Center at Skagit Valley Hospital.

Family Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery with Pastor John Hobson officiating.  Services and arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.  Share memories of Jean and sign the online guest register.
