Jesse Tyrrel Galbreath

Friday, November 20th, 2020

Jesse Tyrrel Galbreath passed away surrounded by his family at his home on November 16, 2020.  He was born on March 6, 1929 in Burlington, Washington to Thomas J. and Emma Galbreath.  He was the fifth of seven children.  He graduated from Burlington-Edison High School in 1948.  During high school he excelled in the sport of boxing and lost only one match.  He married the love of his life, Georgia Sullivan on November 21, 1953 and they settled in Burlington.

Jess went into business with his father at Galbreath Meat Packing Company, running the business for 50 years.  His cattle were his pride and joy.  Jess had a love for animals and animals loved him back.  After his retirement, he worked on Lazy J Farm with his son, Martin and grandsons, Sean and Jesse.  He enjoyed working on the farm during the busy hay season.  Along with working on the farm, he enjoyed traveling.  He and Georgia went to Alaska six times via the Alcan Hwy where he enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia; daughters, Nancy (Paul) Jantzen of Bow and Rebecca (Rob) Jenkin of Gig Harbor; son, Martin (Nancy) Galbreath of Burlington; eight grandchildren, Ashley Jantzen of Seattle, Christopher (Amy) Jantzen of Fall City, Matthew Jenkin and Nicholas Jenkin of Gig Harbor, Danielle Rasar of Mt. Vernon, Megan Walker of Burlington, Jesse (Cailey) Galbreath of Burlington, and Sean (Megan) Galbreath of Bayview; eight great grandchildren, Phillipa, Matilda, and Max Jantzen, Hazel and Edith Rasar, Finley Walker, Easton and Oliver Galbreath; brother, Thomas Galbreath and sister, Dixie Proctor.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Delbert Galbreath and Arvid Galbreath; sisters, Carol Haglund and Juanita Krueger.

Due to COVID-19, a small family service will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on November 23, 2020. This is the church where Jesse and Georgia were married 67 years ago.   Burial at the Burlington Cemetery will follow the service.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Skagit County Humane Society, Meals on Wheels or a charity of your choice.   Share your memories of Jess and sign the online guest register.
