John (Hound Dog) Watson

Sunday, December 18th, 2022

John Watson was 84yrs old when he passed away at his home in Kooskia, Idaho Sunday morning December 18th, 2022.

John was born in Silva, North Carolina to Elbert and Edith Watson. He was the youngest of 5 children. They moved from North Carolina to Washington state when John was just a young boy. They lived in Lyman where John grew up and stayed to start his own family.

John was an outdoors man. He loved fishing on the Skagit River and hunting in Washington and Idaho. John also loved to be adventurous. He raced his #44 sprint car at Skagit Speedway for many years. John made sure his grandkids shared the same love of the outdoors and hunting as he did.

John spent his life working in the woods. He was a logger his whole career until his body couldn’t handle it anymore. All of John’s family and friends referred to him as (hound dog). John looked forward to hunting season every year as his grandson and name’s sake Johnny would drive over to Idaho and spend a couple weeks hunting and being in each other’s company, and when Johns great grandson Dylan started hunting at 11yrs old he joined in the tradition. It was something John looked forward to all year long.

John is survived by his 3 daughters, Robin, Connie and Tami; his 4 grandchildren, Rebecca (Jimmy), Cristina (Brandon), Mylissa (Kelly) and Johnny (Kayla); his 9 great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Ariana, Marcos, Manny, Nayelli, Dylan, Lilly, Tanesha, and Kayden; 1 great great grandson, Emiliano; numerous nieces and nephews; and 3 sisters, Ermie, Betty Jo, and Margie. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Bobbie and several extended family members.

A celebration of life will be held at the Lyman Town Hall on Saturday, April 15th, 2023, at 1pm. The family would like to invite anyone that knew John (Hound Dog) and has some great stories to tell and spend some time remembering the great man he was. It will be a potluck style so bring your favorite dish if you would like. Share memories of John and sign the online guest register.
