My condolences to Joe’s family. I lived across the street from Joe and Vie during my high school years. My memories of him are how immaculate he kept his garage and vehicles. His prized Lincoln was always parked with the hood up to display the motor and received an oil change at regular intervals whether driven or not. He taught me many things about the maintenance and repair of vehicles that remains with me today. I always remember a favorite phrase of his “close enough for government work”. Thank you and rest well Joe.

    Dear Family of Mr. Whitaker:
While I did not have the privilege of meeting Mr. Whitaker, because we share the same name,
different spelling, I feel touched over his passing. He lived a great life, and I am sure, that as
you remember him, you will think of all the wonderful moments with him.
My prayer is that you will feel the comfort of God’s love as you get through these moments.
If you are persons of faith, then you will understand that God’s love carries us over the rough
places, giving us a song in our hearts, and a smile on our face. God Bless you at this time.

    Love,
    Rev. David L. Whittaker
