June B. Anderson

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

June B. Anderson, age 75, of Hamilton, Washington passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington with her family at her side.

She was born on July 16, 1935 in Hamilton, Washington to Dee and Irene (Ledford) Hodgin.  June grew up in the Hamilton area and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School and she was the 1952 Sedro-Woolley Rodeo Queen.

She moved from Washington to New York in 1980 with her husband Duwayne.  When her husband’s profession relocated them, they chose College Station, Texas.  June loved Texas and she began working for Texas A&M University as a travel coordinator manager for the Ocean Drilling Program in 1984.  When June’s husband retired from his position at the University, they both returned to the family farm in Hamilton where June was raised and attended school.

June was a very kind and generous woman who loved people and enjoyed a good political debate.  Some of her passions were entertaining, gourmet cooking, dancing, reading, bead working, and shopping, but most of all she was dedicated to her three daughters and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her three daughters; Valerie Zielke and her husband Gene of Concrete, Susan Malesis and her husband Michael of Bellevue, and Nancy Budd of Spokane.  A grandson, Alex Malesis of Bellevue, and her brother, Martin Hodgin and his wife Marie of Hamilton.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Duwayne in 2002 and her sister, Mary Hodgin.

Graveside Services will be held Friday, August 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Hamilton Cemetery with Pastor David Hodgin of Chimacum officiating.  A reception will follow the services at the family home.  Arrangements and services are under the care of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.

    Dear Valeries, Susan and Nancy,
June and Duwayne brought so much joy and enthusiasm for life with them to Texas! We met when they came to my design office to chose paint and wallpapers for their new home. The weather was awful–torrential rain and power outages that included the office. Undeterred, they carried by the light from the parking lot. June had great taste so the house was lovely even if some of the choices were something of a surprise.
We became good friends and had so many happy times. The dinner and swimming parties they gave were legendary. No one could come close to equalling June’s dinners. Although swimming wasn’t her favorite sport, June was the only woman I have met who looked elegant in a swimsuit, even a wet one.
It was with great sadness that I read of her death. Her legacy of love of life and kindness lives on in the memories of everyone who knew her. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.

June and Duwayne brought so much joy and enthusism for life with them to Texas! I first met them to help plan their new home. It was raining torrentially, the office lights went out and we chose paint and wallpaper by the light from the parking lot. They found it a great entertainment rather than the inconvenience it was.
Later we became good friends. We shared legendary swimming, dinner and birthday parties. No one could e We danced at the Texas Hall of Fame with abandon if not skill. And we seldom missed a black tie charity ball.

It is very sad to read about the loss of a loved one in death. May memories you shard sustain you as you look forward to the time when God’s promises regarding our loved ones who passed away will be fulfilled. such promises we read at Revelation 21:3-5; John 5:28,29 as well as Psalm 37:11,29. I would like to send my caring thoughts and deep sympathy to your family.
