Tholstrup, Karl MilitaryKarl W. “Rusty” Tholstrup, 67, of Sedro-Woolley, passed away at Skagit Valley Hospital on Sunday, February 28, 2016, due to pancreatic and liver cancer.

Karl was born on November 3, 1948 in Sedro-Woolley, the son of Ralph and Della (Jones) Tholstrup. He was raised and attended school in Sedro-Woolley.

In November 1965, on his 17th birthday he enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country for 10 years. He earned many medals and badges during his service time. His second tour in Vietnam he was with the 1st Cavalry where he earned his Purple Heart.

After his discharge in 1975 he went on to be a truck driver, which he dearly loved as he loved to travel across the U.S. and Canada.

In 1971, Karl was united in marriage to Judith Kincaid in Vanderbilt, Michigan. They had 2 sons, Brian and Travis.

Karl loved anything to do with history, military and a huge Harry Potter fan.

He is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Judith; sons, Brian, of Sedro-Woolley and Travis (Tasha) of Spokane; 6 grandchildren, Brianna, Kori, Austin, Jay, Hunter, Ryan; sisters, Sharon Chapin (Bill Knuth) and Kris Davis (Floyd); brother, Ralph Tholstrup and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and many family friends.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 1:00PM at Union Cemetery in Sedro-Woolley, followed by a reception at the Lyman Town Hall at 8334 S. Main St., Lyman, WA.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jafari and all the wonderful nursing staff at the Skagit Valley Hospital Regional Cancer Care Center. Contributions in memory of Karl are suggested to the SVH Regional Cancer Care Center
