Larry Adkins

Friday, April 3rd, 2015

Larry R. Adkins, 77 of Sedro Woolley, passed away April 3, 2015. Larry was born in Spalding, Nebraska, November 21, 1938 to Clyde and Verna Adkins. His family moved to Washington in 1940, eventually settling in Skagit County.
First and foremost, he was a family man, teaching us what true unconditional love is. He loved family gatherings of any kind. Dad always said if he would have known how much fun grandchildren were, he would have had them first! He was a man of many talents, working as an equipment operator and truck driver, retiring in 2003. Fishing was one of his loves, whether on the river with his kids and grandchildren, on a lake somewhere, or out in the ocean fishing for that “perfect” salmon. He was a member of the Hub Sportsmen Fishing Club. His latest passion was woodworking, bring him a plan or picture and he could build it. He had a soft spot for animals, opening “Grandpa’s doggy day care” for all of the neighborhood dogs.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Judy; their children and spouses, Don (Linda) Adkins, Burlington, WA, Tammy (Vern) Ringhouse, Sedro Woolley, WA, Doug Adkins, Burlington, WA, Pam (Terry) Ringhouse, Sedro Woolley, WA, Bob Adkins, Sedro Woolley, WA; ten grandchildren, Tori (Brian) Jackson, Justin (Theresa) Adkins, Seldom Adkins, Ryan (Alyssa) Ringhouse, Jacob Adkins, Wendy Ringhouse, Sara Ringhouse, Dakota Adkins, Matthew Ringhouse and Carly Adkins; eight great grandchildren, Aurora, Shane, Tavin, Paxton, Kyler, Elsie, Grayson and Scarlett; one sister, Lois Byrum, Beaver, Oklahoma; three brothers, Gary Adkins, Clear Lake, WA, Robert Adkins, Wasilla, Alaska, Wayne Adkins, Idaho; numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Joy Lynn and sisters Beverly Brown and Carolyn Wagoner.
He will be greatly missed by all who loved and cherished him. Per Dads request there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Hub Sportsmen Club: PO Box 522, Burlington, WA 98233 or the Humane Society of Skagit Valley: 18841 Kelleher Road, Burlington, WA 98233.
