Leonard L. Ceradsky, 83, a longtime resident of Burlington, passed away unexpectedly on July 17, 2016 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
Leonard was born on September 3, 1932 in Maitland, Missouri, the son of W.
Olen & Cora (Bowland) Ceradsky. He was raised and attended school in Maitland until 1947 when the family moved to Skagit County and he then attended Sedro-Woolley High School.
In October of 1951 he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force, serving as a B-29 tail gunner during the Korean Conflict.
On September 3, 1955 he was united in marriage to Shirley Robertson and they made their home in the Hoogdahl community north of Sedro-Woolley until settling in Burlington in 1967.
Leonard worked at several occupations over the years, until finally starting his own business in 1975, Ceradsky & Son, building wooden planter
boxes for local nurseries and making survey stakes for engineering companies from King to Whatcom Counties.
Leonard enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid rock hound, extracting rocks from Walker Valley near Big Lake long before many knew of the area.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley at the family home in Burlington; sons, Wayne Ceradsky and wife
Chris of Burlington and Ray Ceradsky of Bow; daughter, Cheryl Pfeifer and husband Hap of Hamilton, Ohio; sister, Rosemary Decker of Olympia, WA and brother, Kenneth Ceradsky of Copenhagen, Denmark; 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family.
At Leonard’s request there will be no formal funeral services. Cremation arrangements and inurnment are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
