Leslie Raymond Rieckers, age 70, a resident of Sedro-Woolley, passed away on March 13, 2011 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.

He was born on December 4, 1940 to Frank and Beth (Mitchell) Rieckers in Blue Creek, Washington, where he was raised.  Upon graduating from Jenkins High School in Chewelah, Washington, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving seven years in Viet Nam.  He lived throughout Asia, where he met his wife, Fe Mendoza, and they were married in the Philippines on Nov. 25, 1978.  In 1983, he retired as a Chief Petty Officer from the Navy and settled in Sedro-Woolley.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Leslie is survived by his wife, Fe; daughter, Lisa Rieckers; sister-in-law, Dora Lynch; nieces, Susan Niclai, Patti Comack and Kathy Phillips and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Cleo Rieckers; brother in law, Ray Lynch; nephew, Richard Rieckers, and great-nephews, Edward Rieckers and Damion Comack.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 719 Ferry Street, Sedro-Woolley, with Father Martin Bourke presiding.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley.
