Leatha Bell Jansen a longtime Skagit Valley resident passed away at her home in Hamilton, WA on Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at the age of 80 years. She was born September 23, 1922 in Tacoma, WA the daughter of Edward and Myra Flanders McIntosh. Leatha grew up in Seattle later moving to Concrete and eventually settling in Sedro-Woolley in 1951. For the past 5 years, she has resided in Hamilton. Leatha was married to Charles Harry Jansen on March 7, 1957 in Lyman, WA and he preceded her in death on January 26, 1978. She enjoyed embroidery, puzzles, reading, gardening, and she was known for her love of animals, but most of all she enjoyed her children and grandchildren. Leatha is survived by her children Sharon Paylor of Sylva, NC, Sandra and her husband Dale McGuire of Round Mountain, NV, Linda and her husband Dan Lamphiear of Hamilton, Joy and her husband Karl Arendse of Sedro-Woolley, Patsy Flora-Huffman of North Bend, WA, and James and his wife Susan Jansen of Lake Stevens, WA. 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. 3 sisters Nedra Robison of Concrete, Juanita Garl of Seattle, and Pearl Wentworth of Kirkland. Numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 brothers, and a grandson Cody Jansen.
Funeral Services will be Monday, January 6, 2003 at 11:00AM at the Sedro-Woolley Community Church at Township and Talcott with Pastor Frank Ensley officiating. Interment will follow in the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Sedro-Woolley Community Church or the Humane Society.
