Levi Kevin ‘Cricket Bug’ Manion

Levi Kevin Manion passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon.
He was born on June 16, 1998. As a foster child, Levi was placed with his adoptive parents, Timothy & Heidi Jordan Manion in July of 1998 at 3 ½ weeks of age.
He was raised in Burlington and attended the Bay View Grade School where he was currently in the 5th grade. One of the things Levi was most proud of was learning how to square dance at school and getting to perform in his school program.
Levi was a special little boy with many wonderful qualities. He was very endearing, with so much love to give everyone that he came into contact with.
He never met anyone he couldn’t find a reason to call his friend, and looked forward to making new acquaintances each and every time he went anywhere.
Levi enjoyed baseball, playing outside and watching Disney movies. Two of the things he loved most were going to school to see his friends and spending time with family. Big family get togethers were something he loved dearly, especially Christmas.
Though Levi was challenged in many ways, he always made the best of every situation. He had to deal with numerous medical challenges in his short life and faced them all with resiliency, a triumphant spirit and a willingness to always win.
Thanks go out to the wonderful specialists in Neurology, Endocrinology, Mitochondrial Disorders and Orthopedics at Children’s Hospital in Seattle, who have provided care for Levi over these past 10 ½ years. Also to Dr. Jay Cocheba and the staff of the Wound Care Center at Skagit Valley Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. H. Edwin Stickle in Sedro-Woolley who has been Levi’s physician since birth and especially to Dr. Vida Janson in Seattle.
Levi is survived by his parents, Timothy & Heidi Manion of Burlington. 2 brothers, Steven S. Manion currently station in Dan Diego in the Navy and Troy C. Manion and his sister, Annnie I. Manion at the family home. Maternal grandmother, Esther Wardell Jordan of Sedro-Woolley. Aunt & uncle, Shauna Jordan and Jeff Oiness of Sedro-Woolley and special cousin, Elizabeth Oiness and a very special great-aunt & uncle Edythe Wardell and Basil Taylor of Seattle. Paternal grandmother, Mary Ellis Manion of Sedro-Woolley. Aunt & uncle, Patsy Manion & Bert Nelson of Sedro-Woolley. Cousins, Dornita Nelson & Frank Castilleja of Lyman and Shenalyn Nelson & Ryan Castoldi of Seattle and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death in March of 2008 by his maternal grandfather, Niles C. ‘Sonny’ Jordan, or ‘The Big Guy’ as Levi called him…Levi was grandpa’s ‘Little Guy’ and by his paternal grandfather, Thomas ‘Tommy’ Manion in 1998.
Though Levi is gone, his wonderful smile, exuberance for life and the light and joy he brought to those around him will live on in the precious memories we each have of that special little boy taken way too soon.
In lieu of flowers, please make donation to the Levi Manion Fund at any Skagit State Bank to help the family with funeral expenses or to your favorite children’s charity.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 6, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley with Pastor Tim Hedberg officiating. Interment will follow at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.
