LURA JUNE MYRE, 75, a longtime Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away on Thursday March 13, 2003 at the Life Care Center of Skagit Valley in Sedro-Woolley, surrounded by her loving family.
Lura was born on June 2, 1927 in Buffalo, Oklahoma, the daughter of Fred & Cora Couch Porter. She was raised in Oklahoma until coming to Washington with her family in 1935 settling in Burlington where she was raised attended school. She was united in marriage to Jack Myre in Burlington on October 19, 1951 and they made their home in Sedro-Woolley. Lura worked as a beautician, operating her own shop in Burlington for a while and worked at other salons in Skagit County. She also worked for the Thrifty Foods grocery stores as a meat wrapper, working at times at the three stores in Skagit County for over 20 years.
Lura was an avid bingo player and did quit well and she also enjoyed watching game shows on TV. She also enjoyed gardening and being outdoors, but most important was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbbie & Jim Deitz; her granddaughter and her husband, Tami & Darren Rice and her beloved great-granddaughter, Karissa Rice, all of Sedro-Woolley. Her sister, Maxine Greene also of Sedro-Woolley, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack in 1988, and a brother Gene Porter. Memorials are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, a disease her daughter has suffered with for 15 years.
Graveside services will be held at the Greenhills Cemetery in Burlington on Tuesday March 18, 2003 at 2:30 PM. Mr. Fred Huff officiating. Visitation will be held at Lemley Chapel in Sedro-Woolley. Share thoughts of Lura and sign the online guest register at www.lemleychapel.com
