MABEL ELLA HEDDEN, a Sedro-Woolley resident, passed away on Monday March 11, 2002 at the Life Care Center surrounded by her family. She was 88 years of age.
She was born on January 8, 1916 in Kent, Washington, the daughter of James & Martha Combs McIlrath. In 1922 the family moved to Hamilton where she was raised and attended school. She knew her Lord as her Savior and attended the Sedro-Woolley First Baptist Church for Several years.
In 1935 she was united in marriage to William ?Pat? Hedden in Mount Vernon, WA, and celebrated 58 years together until he went to be with the Lord in 1993.
Besides taking care of her family and home, Mabel worked for National Cannery in Burlington for 10 years. She provided childcare and did fieldwork.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother and always put others first. ?You gave us the gift of laughter and support, We?ll miss you Mom?.
Mabel enjoyed family get-togethers, camping, reading, playing cards, cooking.
Mabel is survived by a son, William L. Hedden of Creswell, Oregon. A daughter, Sue Ann Ammons of Mount Vernon, WA. 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. 1 brother Neil McIlrath and his wife Dee. 1 sister, Virginia Williams and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Pat, she was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald, also in 1993. 1 brother, Robert and 4 sister, Ola, Boots, Dorothy and an infant sister.
The family suggests memorials to a charity of your choice.
Funeral services were held Saturday March 16, 2002 at 11:00 AM at Lemley Chapel. Pastor Wayne Sligar of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Sedro-Woolley officiated. Interment followed at Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery.
